Rwandan tradition
IBARA
Imigongo is one of Rwanda’s most distinctive visual traditions—bold geometric patterns historically made with cow dung and natural pigments. On IBARA, you can buy authentic pieces from verified creators and arrange hotel delivery or international shipping.
The craft is closely associated with eastern Rwanda, especially around the former kingdom of Gisaka. Contemporary makers keep the geometry and symbolism while adapting scale, colour, and materials for today’s collectors and travellers.
When you buy Imigongo through IBARA, you are purchasing from a listed creator—not a generic souvenir stall. Each listing shows the artist, materials where provided, and clear fulfilment options at checkout.
Looking for something travel-friendly? Start with smaller panels and ask about packaging. Prefer a statement piece for home? Choose a larger work and ship internationally after your trip.

Ask about hotel delivery in Kigali if you are still travelling.
For larger pieces, international shipping is often easier than carrying them in luggage.
Read the artist’s story—Imigongo is as much about the maker as the pattern.
