Marketplace Terms
Last updated 21 July 2026
IBARA is a marketplace that connects independent Rwandan artists, galleries, and cooperatives with buyers. These terms describe the responsibilities of everyone transacting on the platform.
For buyers
- Artwork listed on IBARA is sold by independent artists and galleries, not by IBARA itself.
- Prices are shown in RWF, with estimated USD/EUR conversions where available; the currency actually charged is shown before payment.
- Our Shipping Policy and Returns & Refunds Policy apply to every order.
For artists, galleries, and cooperatives
- Sellers must only list artwork they own, created, or have explicit rights to sell.
- Founding artists pay a 8% commission on sales for one year; standard self-managed sellers pay 15%, and managed-artist services pay 25% — see the current rates on the Join as an Artist page.
- Sellers are responsible for accurate listings (materials, dimensions, authenticity) and for timely dispatch.
- Payouts are made via the payout method on file after a hold period following confirmed delivery.
Verification
A "Verified" badge means our team has personally confirmed the artist's identity or the gallery's operating status as of the date shown next to the badge. It is not a guarantee of every listed artwork's authenticity, which is checked separately.
Prohibited conduct
- Listing counterfeit, plagiarized, or misrepresented work.
- Circumventing the platform to avoid commission on a sale initiated through IBARA.
- Harassing, discriminatory, or fraudulent behaviour toward buyers or other sellers.
Enforcement
We may remove listings, suspend accounts, or withhold payouts pending investigation where these terms are violated. Sellers can appeal a decision by contacting hello@ibaraart.rw.
